Manufacturing Engineer- Electrical Houston TX

Determines and pursues courses of action essential in obtaining desired outcomes. • High Impact to the Company: Decisions directly impact the organizations ability to achieve its objectives and the image of the company. • Spearheads and takes direct action towards automating functions on the production floor to improve efficiencies, repeatability and quality • Introduces new products into Manufacturing via engineering projects, transfer of product from R&D, prototypes etc… • Ensures Manufacturing has the correct tools/documentation/technology/training to perform the tasks required. Essential Functions*: (Listing of specific duties in each area – in order of importance) • Manufacturing Electrical Engineer deals with design-for-manufacturing, product transition from the design phase to quality process, manufacturing and product sustaining. This position will focus on building the processes and infrastructure needed for each department during the transition from product development to manufacturing. It will involve some or all of the following depending on the product: 1. Quality Engineering • Work with all departments to establish a quality system detailing process and functional requirements to meet organizational goals. 2. Design for Manufacturing • Review and input of design for reliable repetition, cost effective, high quality production. • Throughout development and into product launch, manufacturing considerations must be interwoven with design that assures both feasibility of production and production at least cost. • Leading and defining documentation, and tests to ensure product meets the design requirements early in the product development life cycle (starting at project concept) and continues to drive conformance through PDRs (preliminary design review), CDRs (critical design review), prototype build and validation. • Automation of testing, process, data gathering, record maintenance, test equipment for QC, Production, Vendors 3. New Product Introduction and Manufacturing Sustaining • Defines manufacturing processes, production targets, costs, contracting approaches and even competitive factors. • Participates in the approval and selection of sub-contractors, as well as monitoring their performance as needed. • Creates manufacturing plans for prototype, pilot production and full production. • Owns demonstrating production readiness and documenting same via the RTP (release to production) checklist. This includes production tooling, facilities, manufacturing methods/workflows and test flows. • Sustains the manufacturing process by minimizing scrap and rework. Analyzes trends. • Attends project reviews and design reviews. Presents updates at project reviews on manufacturing readiness and issues. • Able to analyze engineering CAD models for manufacturing readiness and reproducibility 4. Product Validation – • May create or contribute to the product validation plans, performs validation tests and presents validation results, conclusions and recommendations to SWE staff. 5. Test Engineering- IQC and production test plan and implementation 6. Product Sustaining- • Participates in resolution of issues and root cause/corrective actions meetings. • Provides technical support to manufacturing engineering, the manufacturing floor, manufacturing vendors sales and customers. • Works with design team to ensure hardware, software, mechanical fixes to root cause are developed and implemented. • Identifies production yield and test coverage issues and develops improvements.

Preferred Python or C# • Knowledge of Surface Mount Technology (SMT) manufacturing processes and ability to conduct failure analysis. • Manufacturing Monitoring Systems (MES, SPC, etc) and how to apply manufacturing statistics and design of experiments. • Experience in lean manufacturing • Experience with Experience with 3D CAD modeling tools and comfortable with modifying 2D drawings (Solidworks). PREFERRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE: • Familiarity with eCAD, including schematic capture and board layout (Altium). • Experience with 3D printing. REQUIRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: • BS in Electrical Engineering • 5-10 years’ experience in the design and/or integration of embedded systems • Proficient in English, both verbal and written COMPUTER AND EQUIPMENT SKILLS Required Skills and Knowledge: • Programming experience required. Salary/Pay Amount: $100,000 – $120,000
