Software Development Manager

 

This key leadership position will manage and direct a team of software engineers who architect, design, and deliver high-quality software applications for our clients.  This role will also improve internal business processes and support critical business strategies by managing the schedule, development, quality assurance, implementation, and maintenance of the delivery of our applications to our customer base. Overall this role will be responsible for the delivery of quality product within committed budget and on schedule for software development work performed by project staff. The successful candidate will provide leadership and direction to one or more project teams, and will combine the management and leadership skills with effective technical project management. The successful candidate will have excellent learning, technical, analytical, and problem solving skills.  Must be pro-active, team oriented, independent, organized, and adaptable.

ACTIVITIES

Development project management:

• Create detailed project plans and terms of reference

• Assemble team and direct them day to day

• Implement development process improvements

• Implement governance process and chair progress meetings with clients

• Validate estimates

• Ensure time recording is done accurately

• Track project time and budget, re-estimate open activities and report weekly

• Produce status reports

• Exercise change control

• Manage issues and risks

• Manage external dependencies

 

EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

• 10 to 15 years of experience in Information Technology field

• 5+ years of experience in design, programming, testing and/or managing software applications, utilizing .Net, C-language, Java, and SQL.

• 2-5 years experience in a leadership role - Technical Lead, Project Lead/Manager, or any position managing, mentoring, and overseeing development staff -- while remaining hands-on and have some exposure to structured methodology

• Adequate knowledge in management of project’s scope, cost, schedule, quality, communication, resources, procurement and risks

• Experience with documented software development methodology and understanding of all stages of software development project life cycle

• Ability to understand technical and application level design issues from high level to determine project impact.

• Previous experience leading custom software development and system integration projects.

• Strong communication, analytical and organizational skills

• Ability to assimilate varied pieces of information and translate into a comprehensive system design or enhancement which solves current business problems yet addresses future or more global system needs.

• Pro active self-starter with outstanding interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills.

• This position involves a high level of responsibility and ownership.  Self-motivation, team orientation and possession of a strong sense of accountability are required.

• Exhibit effective time management skills with appropriate prioritization, and ability to track/work on multiple projects concurrently with time critical deadlines

 

ADVANTAGE:

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or a related technical field

• PMP certification

• Knowledge and experience with energy trading infrastructure and customer relationship management

• Knowledge and experience with developing Web-based technologies and XML implementations.

• Sound knowledge in operating systems and client/server concepts.

• Experience leading and driving projects including overseas team in India

Business Analyst

A leading global provider of innovation and cost effective solutions designed and developed for companies n the field of commodity trading and transaction management is looking for a Business Analyst.  They have been delivering robust enterprise-wide trading & risk management systems for multi-commodity marketplaces through out the world. 

Looking for a Business Analyst in a functional role.  Must have work experience in trading and or risk management industry and ideally have some consulting background.  There may be internal projects at times that would not require travel but the intent would be for this person to be project oriented.  Projects could be software implementations and configuration or  custom development oriented or a combination of both.  Someone with good business background in trading and risk management and who has acted as a liaison to IT. Ideally candidate for business analyst would have actually implemented software.

Job Description

 Looking for a hands-on Technical Project Manager to join the Client Solutions team. Client projects are focused on various aspects of implementing its flagship product, Enterprise Enabler. Responsibilities include coordinating the initiation of new projects, defining scope and target deliverables, performing requirements gathering and other general project management activities. Position will involve business and technology analysis and coordination of work plans and manpower on a variety of projects. Projects will require hands-on work with Enterprise Enabler and problem solving in various technology environments. Project last 2-3 months and will head team of 2-3 people from start to finish.

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Experience in many technical environments is essential to being effective with every client situation.

• Experience working for one of the large system integration consulting firms.

• Minimum of five years working with various databases and be proficient in SQL.

• Two to three years experience developing in Microsoft .NET, with one to two years using web services, and SOAP.

• Three years of project management with budgetary and delivery responsibility, including gathering requirements. Client management and overall project/people

• ASP development is a plus

• Need a highly motivated, self-starter who gets the job done well daily, and is not easily intimidated by challenges.

• MUST have excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as strong organization and proven multi-tasking abilities. Work well under challenging conditions.
